Mike Barton KO's Cabbage in MMA Debut!

Mike Barton may not be a household name in the world of Mixed Martial Arts, but he soon may be.  Barton, a former WWE Superstar, made his MMA debut at the ripe age of 40 against one of the most dominant heavyweights around in Wesley “Cabbage” Correira this past Saturday in Hilo, Hawaii at Rumble on the Rock.  Many figured Barton would be overmatched by the popular ROTR and UFC veteran, Cabbage. Barton, looking to silence his critics, dominated the fight, and won via TKO at 1:40 of the 1st round!
Mike Barton, who is being represented by Valor Fighting & UPW, is looking to fight again soon.  “We had been working to get him booked for over 6 months,” said Valor & UPW President Rick Bassman.  “ Mike is certainly a tough guy, that’s for sure, but there were many factors to consider. We wanted to find the right fight for him, in a high profile position, and Rumble on the Rock was just that.   Mike's very respectful of the business and appreciated the opportunity,  and even with very limited experience, was very calm going into the fight.”
Barton, a former WWE Tag Team Champion, has a reputation for being a tough fighter.  Barton won WWE’s Brawl for All Championship, which consisted of boxing and wrestling with the toughest fighters WWE had to offer, in a real setting.  Despite starting out at the age of 40, Barton is excited about the idea of fighting again.  He has a great look, and a natural toughness that is often desired in the MMA community.  One thing is for sure, we have not seen the last of Mike Barton, as he awaits the next opponent for him to prove himself against.  Hopefully, we do not have to wait long!
