Showdown at Cache Creek proved to be one of the more entertaining fight shows ever seen by MMA fans.  From the fantastic production to the world class fighters, everything seemed picture perfect from the get go.  With 9 action packed fights, Valor Fighting once again proved why they are going to be a force to be reckoned with in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.  From the onset, the tone is set.  Big Screens throughout the arena, where the Valor Fighters video is playing.  We see the team of Valor Fighters as well as some recent fights from Home of the Brave and Medford Mayhem.  Ring announcer Christopher Cope then enters the ring and the crowd fires up.  The lights dim, and we get entrances not seen in the fighting world, anywhere.  We see each fighter on the screen throwing punches and kicks, and facing off with one another, fire in the background and all.  We see the tale of the tape, followed by both fighters talking about the upcoming fight we are about to see.  Then, right out of the professional wrestling world, each fighter has their own entrance video, customized to each fighter.  Finally, the fight begins….

Several new fighters impressed fans with some tremendous performances including Jose Palacios and Sam Spengler out of Cung Le’s Ush! Fight Team.  Both fighters left with wins against sturdy competition in Jason Childers and Adam Macrae respectively.  Palacios won in 4 minutes with a rear naked choke, dominating early.  It took Spengler a little longer to dispose of Macrae.  After 15 minutes of blood, sweat and tears, Spengler was awarded the victory via decision.  Both fighters were exhausted, but put on a show that had the fans standing from start to finish.

Phillip Wyman out of Ken Shamrock’s Lion’s Den put on a dominating performance defeating Wes Welch in under a minute with a expertly applied armbar.  Maybe that Shamrock knows a thing or two!  In another strong showing, Matt Lininger, training under Dennis Hallman, defeated Valor Fighting veteran Rikki Bloom in under a minute as well with a choke.

One of the more impressive performances of the night was that of Honorary Valor Fighter Taurus Cabbab.  Cabbab, hailing from Hawaii, entered this fight undefeated in his career, in both kickboxing and underground fights.  He was looking to make a name for himself in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.  Before entering the ring, we see Cabbab on the screens playing the ukulele in Hawaii, before the music hits and he is throwing punches and kicks in front of waterfalls, volcanoes and more!  Cabbab then enters the ring to a great response from the 2100 fans in attendance.  The fight started with some feeling out until we saw Cabbab pick up Winnow Driscoll and slam him through the mat.  Cabbab followed with some heavy punches, causing blood from Driscoll’s nose the splatter.  The fight was stopped, and Cabbab left to an ovation.  Fighting legend Kimo told him later that he has “it” and with no MMA fight experience, to show the tendencies he has and technique, we may be seeing a legend in the making.  Only time will tell.

The next 4 fights saw Valor Fighters represent Valor to the fullest.  The “Japanese Assassin” Kengo Ura dominated his fight, which is becoming a regular occurrence in his fights.  Last time we saw Kengo, he made fellow Valor Fighter Shannon “The Cannon” Ritch tap out.  He recently fought in Hawaii at Rumble on the Rock, and made Mike Malone tap out in the first round as well.  This fight was no different.  Valor looks to have discovered a diamond in Kengo, as he forced Jeff Dietrich to tap out with a kimura in 1:35.  Kengo also proved to be a crowd favorite as the fans were rabid for his entrance.  The next fight saw our own Tom Howard face off against Christian Wellisch.  Howard received one of the biggest reactions from the fans in attendance, stemming from some vicious hits he delivered that were seen on his entrance video.  Howard did not know his opponent until a few days prior to the show.  The fight started out as a wrestling match, and turned into a battle.  Wellisch got on the back on Howard and forced Howard to tap out to a rear naked choke.

Now came time for the Soul Collector Mavrick to showcase why he is the most electrifying fighter in the world of MMA.  Mavrick entered this fight injury riddled.  He had a broken rib from a previous injury which was protruding through the skin.  He also had a bicep injury.  But rather than pull out of the fight, Mavrick once again proved why he is “To the people, by the people, and for the people!”  Before he enters the ring, we see video of him performing dangerous motorcycle stunts including standing on the seat while it is moving down the highway and more!  He came out throwing shirts to the fans, and certainly was one of the most beloved fighters there, as he usually is when he fights.  Mavrick faced off against John Dale, a formidable opponent who was not intimidated by the pageantry, the tattooed eyebrows, or the look of distain on the face of the Soul Collector.  Once the fight started, we saw Dale go after Mavrick.  Dale landed a punch square to the eye of Mavrick.  At this point, evident to all those in attendance, we saw a switch turn on in Mavrick and from there it was the beginning of the end for Dale.  Mavrick leveled Dale with a wicked punch.  Dale went down, and Mavrick mounted and proceeded to throw stiff punch after punch until the fight was stopped at 1:05 mark of the first round.  Fans echoed Mavrick’s sentiments where he says he is a street fighter for life, and demonstrated just this with his raw power and emotion he leaves in the ring.

The Main Event saw our own Dennis “Superman” Hallman square off against “Relentless” Ray Perales.  Hallman, who has an amazing 2 wins over UFC Champion Matt Hughes in a combined time of 37 seconds came into this fight prepared.  Hallman proved that he does not get paid by the hour and made Perales tap out in 33 seconds with a rear naked choke.  Hallman later said, “I have seen him fight and he is Relentless, the longer he goes, the stronger he gets so I knew I had to get on him quickly.”  Hallman proved once again why he is one of the top fighters in the world, and solidified Cowboy Karate as one of the more impressive fight styles in the world.

Fans left clamoring for more.  The night was also highlighted by special appearances by Fighting Legend Kimo, and current dominant K-1 fighter, and Valor star, Sylvester “Predator” Terkay.

After the show, Valor showed why it is the new face of MMA, and a fan friendly promotion.  Fans were seen taking pictures with Kimo, Predator, Mavrick, and more.  The fighters were gracious in talking with fans, and again, disproving the theory about fighters being barbarians.  They enjoyed interacting with the fans, and Valor Fighting is proud to bring this atmosphere to our fans.  So stay tuned to www.valorfighting.com for the latest updates on Valor Fighting and your favorite Valor Fighting Stars!
